Maiden Cay

Maiden Cay (Maiden Key) is a small uninhabited island located off the coast of Port Royal, Kingston, Jamaica. It is one of eight (8) named cays that form the Port Royal Cays - which are arranged in the shape of an atoll. The other cays are Gun Cay, Lime Cay, Southeast Cay, South Cay, South Cay Rock, Drunkenmans Cay and Rackhams Cay.

Maiden Cay is little more than an elevated sandbar with sparse vegetation. It is located at Latitude 17.9 and Longitude -76.81667 (DMS - 17° 53' 60 N and 76° 49' 0 W). It's a popular destination and rest spot for sunbathers, snorkelers and boaters / yachters, and it is also frequently used for day time beach parties.

Local fishermen, as well as the Morgan's Harbour Hotel and the Y-Not dock in Port Royal, all offer paid boat service to Maiden Cay. Price will vary depending on the carrier, but in 2009 the cost (two-way fare) was generally in the region of $500 per person.

Below we've featured a few photos of Maiden Cay.
